On This Day In Dinohistory: February 4, 1953 "The Stooge" Premiers

Hey pallies, likes on this fourth day of Dino-amore-month we celebrate a significant day in Dino-history, February 4, 1953....the Dino-date that the classic Dino and the jer flick "The Stooge" made it's debut at the Paramount Theatre in New York City. We thanks the pallies at ABA DSS for sharin' this Dino-detail with us (to read it in it's original format, just click on the title of this post).

A visit to the "The Stooge" entry at Wikipedia yields this information....
"The Stooge was filmed between February 19 and March 24, 1951 and although it was filmed before two other Martin and Lewis films, Sailor Beware and Jumping Jacks, this film was withheld from distribution by Paramount because they were concerned about the audience's reaction to the way Martin treated Lewis in the film."

Interestin' that it was in the month of Dino-amore, that this more serious Martin and Lewis classic was released....and it is said to be the favorite film of the duo...especially of Mr. Lewis. Indeed in parts of the film our Dino treats the kid harshly...but by the wonderful end of this flick the bromantic relationship between our Dino and the kid has been perfectly re-established.

Hopes you will enjoy the pix and posters from this marvelously wonderful Dino-pix, as well as the entire film shared here for your Dino-viewin' pleasure. Dino-lovin'ly, DMP

1953 - Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis appeared in the film, The Stooge, which premiered this day at the Paramount Theatre in New York City. The comedy duo went dramatic in this film -- which had been sitting on the shelves of the Hal Wallis Studios until that time.

I think this was the first "drunk" scene or scenes for Dean, and boy did he do a good job!
