To give substance to the hero, Allen opted for Dean Martin, naturally at ease in the role of the casual playboy.

Hey pallies, likes today we close out our marvelous month of Dino-amore 2018 and what a tremendous time we have had of sweetly sweetly sharin' awesome amore of our most beloved Dino in so so lovin' wonderful ways.  Likes "How do we decide to end these special sessions of Dino-adulation?" we have been powerfully ponderin'.  What we have settled on is yet 'nother incredible installment of international Dino-devotion.

Likes recently we have delightfully noted that hundreds and hundreds of virtual visits to ilovedinomartin each and every Dino-day have been comin' from the cool cool country of France.  So, we are profoundly pleased to end our Dino-amore month 2018 with a powerful post from France.
From the beautiful blog, "Films Fantastiques.com - L'Encyclopedie du Cinema Fantastique" (Fantastic Films The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Cinema) comes blogger Mr. Gilles Penso's remarkable reflection on our Dino as Matt Helm in his offerin' tagged "1966 - MATT HELM, VERY SPECIAL AGENT."

Mr. Penso's swank scribin's awesomely accent Helmer numero uno, "The Silencers."  One of the huge huge highlights of his post is a vintage vid clip of what appears to be a French trailer for "The Silencers."  While the quality of the audio is of rather poor quality....the swingin' scenes from this fabulous flick are as cool as ever beginnin' with that stunnin' scene of our Dino as Matt on his revolvin' round bed surrounded by a bevy of beautiful clicks.

We are totally totally thrilled to share this Frenchman's notable nod to our Dino as swingin' spyster Matt Helm and thank him for sharin' this Dino-centric post at his blog.  We are deeply delighted to know that so so many Dino-devotees have been tunin' in here at our humble little ilovedinomartin blog to gets daily doses of our most most beloved Dino and this particular post is to thank 'em all for there deep deep devotion to our ever lovin' Dino!  And, what coulda be more appro to conclude our marvelous month of Dino-amore then to share a bit of Dino-lovin' from our King of Cool as Matt Helm?!?!?!?!  To checks this out in it's original source, likes simply clicks on the tag of this Dino-gram.

1966 - MATT HELM, VERY SPECIAL AGENT

(The Silencers)
from Phil Karlson (USA)

with Dean Martin, Stella Stevens, Daliah Lavi, Victor Buono, Arthur O'Connell, Robert Webber, James Gregory, Nancy Kovacs

When Albert Broccoli decided to adapt James Bond's novels to screen, he proposed to his partner Irving Allen to embark on the adventure with him. Little confidence in the financial future of this project, Allen declined the offer ... and obviously bit his fingers to the elbows following the unexpected success ofe  James Bond against Dr. No  and Seq

they. To try to catch up, Allen bought the rights to David Hamilton's spying novels that narrated the exploits of Matt Helm, an agent at the service of the secret organization ICE. To give substance to the hero, Allen opted for Dean Martin, naturally at ease in the role of the casual playboy. From the novel "The Silencers" which he is supposed to be inspired, Matt Helm Very Special Agent

only a few disparate elements remain, and from the realistic universe created by Hamilton, this semi-parody forgets almost everything, to the chagrin of the novelist's fans. Returned to fashion photography after his good and loyal services for Uncle Sam's counterintelligence, Matt Helm is recontacted by his superiors because of the threat posed by the personalized yellow peril, in other words Tung-Tze (Victor Buono , under an Asian makeup as unconvincing as the Chinese accent he uses to declaim his replicas). Head of the Big-Zero organization, Ting-Tze hijacked a nuclear missile and plans to send it to New Mexico at Alamogordo to start a third world war.

Generously filled with pretty short-clad girls, absurd gadgets, harmless car chases and unabashed gags, Matt Helm Agent Très Spécial just caricatures what made the success of the saga 007 (then booming after the triumph of Thunderball ) without ever seeking to recreate the brutality or inventiveness. Elmer Bernstein compo suddenly a jazzy score echoing those of John Barry, the head designer Joe Wright struggles to compete with the visual madness of Ken Adam's creations, and Dean Martin wanders the film with a disillusioned air, pushing regularly the ditty in voice-over to make profitable his talents of crooner.

This sweetened imitation of 007 gives way to a lot of allusions to  James Bond against Doctor No , especially with the presence of the young woman who interferes with Helm with all her clothes for one of her shirts (like the memorable Sylvia Trench played by Eunice Gayson), but also the Chinese super-villain played by a Caucasian comedian and his futuristic haunt during which a moderately explosive climax takes place. The only real joy of the film is due to the two main female actresses, the stunning Dahlia Lavi playing the role of the ambiguous teammate and the delicious Stella Stevens that of the tourist grossly clumsy. Despite his weak artistic ambitions and the excessive lightness of his treatment,Matt Helm Very Special Agent was a great success - helped of course by Broccoli's espionage movies - and was followed by three sequels with the same recipes.

1966 - MATT HELM, AGENT TRES SPECIAL

(The Silencers)

Everybody Loves Dean Martin Sometime
RemingtonDino Crocetti emerged from the hardscrabble existence in Steubenville, Ohio to become one of the biggest stars in the second half of the 20th century.  With a new moniker of Dean Martin, a legendary partnership with Jerry Lewis, and a fixture status in the famed Rat Pack, the kid from Steubenville became a show business icon.

Martin’s teaming with Lewis lasted 10 years, from 1946 to 1956.  Versions vary regarding the events leading to the partnership that birthed at the 500 Club in Atlantic City.  A succession of movies followed in addition to television appearances, giving post-World War II audiences a release through laughter.

After the split, Martin became a solo performer on stage, perfecting a boozy, charming, easygoing manner.  His movie career no longer depended on the hijinks of Lewis’s elastic expressions, childlike characters, and comedic timing.  Martin made three movies with the Rat Pack, the informal group of entertainers led by Frank Sinatra.  Ocean’s 11, Robin and the 7 Hoods, and Sergeants 3.  Revolving around a New Year’s Eve heist of five Las Vegas casinos, Ocean’s 11 gave Sinatra, Martin, Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, and Sammy Davis, Jr. the opportunity to perform at night after shooting the movie during the day.  It was a perfect match for the Sands, which appears in the final credits as the cast walks by a marquee with the five Rat Pack names prominently displayed.  Martin’s body of movie work includes Airport, The Silencers, Some Came Running, The Sons of Katie Elder, Marriage on the Rocks, and Rio Bravo.

In his comprehensive biography of Martin, Dino: Living High in the Dirty Business of Dreams, Nick Tosches details the impact of the Rat Pack during the three-week production schedule.  “The newspapers had been full of the upcoming Paris summit conference being planned by Eisenhower, Khrushchev, and De Gaulle [sic],” wrote Tosches.  “Well, Sinatra declared, they would have their own summit conference of cool.  Newspapers across the country began publicizing it as the Rat Pack Summit.  By the night they opened, every hotel room in Las Vegas was booked for the duration.  [Sands General Manager Jack] Entratter was more than happy to go along with their setup: At least one of them would perform every night; sometimes two or three or four of them, sometimes all five.”

Martin became a television superstar with NBC’s The Dean Martin Show, which aired from 1965 to 1974.  With musical performances combined with comedy sketches in which Martin could barely stay in character to the delight of audiences, the crooner’s variety show boasted the biggest names in show business as guest stars, including George Gobel, Bob Hope, Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Newhart, Jonathan Winters, Rich Little, Julie London, Soupy Sales, Mickey Rooney, Chita Rivera, Danny Thomas, Leslie Uggams, Barbara Eden, Buddy Ebsen, Raquel Welch, Ann-Margret, Peter Falk, Glenn Ford, Jack Benny, Steve Lawrence, Rip Taylor, Howard Cosell, Meredith MacRae, Eva Gabor, Barbara Feldon, Flip Wilson, Orson Welles, and Lorne Greene.

On Christmas Day 1995, Dean Martin passed away, having conquered the music, television, movie, and concert industries.  His two signature songs, That’s Amore and Everybody Loves Somebody became the sonic icons by which audiences identified the kid from Steubenville.  The famed Las Vegas strip dimmed lights in his honor.

Twenty lines of love - Rowan Coleman

Make sure your father falls in love again. Eat vegetables every day. Do not trust a man with excessive beard. Dance on my funeral to Dean Martin. Night after night Stella is putting this and other lines on paper. But it is not their own thoughts and desires. The hospital nurse writes farewell letters on behalf of her seriously ill patients and hands over their messages after they have passed away. Until she writes a letter, in which she can not lose any time. Because sometimes it is worth fighting: For love. For happiness. For the one moment in life, where the stars in the sky shine a little brighter ...

Dean Martin in the Movie: Artists and Models, 1955 (Gif)

Artists and Models is a 1955 Paramount musical comedy in VistaVision and marked Martin and Lewis's fourteenth feature together as a team. The film co-stars Shirley MacLaine and Dorothy Malone, also featuring Eva Gabor and Anita Ekberg in brief roles

Rick Todd (Dean Martin) is a struggling painter and smooth-talking ladies' man. His goofy young roommate Eugene Fullstack (Jerry Lewis) is an aspiring children's author who has a passion for comic books, especially those of the mysterious and sexy "Bat Lady."

Each night, Eugene has horrific screaming nightmares inspired by those ultra-violent comics, which he describes aloud in his sleep. They are about the bizarre bird-like superhero "Vincent the Vulture" who is, according to Eugene's nocturnal babblings, the "defender of truth and liberty and a member of the Audubon Society" and is "half-boy, half-man, half-bird with feathers growing out of every pore" and a "tail full of jet propulsion." Also known as "Vultureman" or more simply "The Vulture", the golden helmeted hero soars through space from his "homogenized space station" orbiting the Milky Way to battle his shapely but sadistic purple-eyed archenemy "Zuba the Magnificent," who hates Vincent because "she's allergic to his feathers" and who enjoys blasting big "oooozing" holes into his highly resilient flying form ("It'll take more than that to stop me!") with her "atomic pivot gun."

A neighbor in their apartment building, Abigail Parker (Dorothy Malone), is a professional artist who works for a New York comic book company called Murdock Publishing and is the creator of the "Bat Lady." Her energetic horoscope-obsessed roommate is Bessie Sparrowbush (Shirley MacLaine), who is secretary to her publisher Mr. Murdock (Eddie Mayehoff) and Abigail's model for the flying bat-masked superheroine. Bessie develops a crush on Eugene, who is unaware that she is his beloved "Bat Lady" in the flesh.

Abigail becomes frustrated at work at the increasingly lurid and bloodthirsty stories the money-hungry Murdock demands. She quits to become an anti-comics activist, dragging Eugene into her crusade as an example of how trashy comic books can warp impressionable minds at the same time that Rick gets a job with the company after pitching the adventures of "Vincent the Vulture" from Eugene's dreams. Rick attains success at his new job, but after falling for Abigail he keeps his work a secret from both her and Eugene.

Unbeknownst to all, Eugene's dreams also contain the real top-secret rocket formula "X34 minus 5R1 plus 6-X36" that Rick publishes in his stories. With spies all around them, they manage to entertain at the annual "Artists and Models Ball" and capture the enemy, preserving national security.

Martin and Lewis' fourteenth feature, Artists and Models was filmed from February 28 to May 3, 1955 at Paramount Studios. The film was released on November 7, 1955 by Paramount Pictures, and was one of the team's highest-budgeted pictures at $1.5 million ($12,589,869.40 in 2011 dollars). The film was shot in VistaVision and Eastmancolor, with prints by Technicolor, and stereophonic sound by Perspecta. Costumes were by Paramount wardrobe designer Edith Head.

Artists and Models marked the first time Lewis worked with former Looney Tunes director Frank Tashlin, whom he admired greatly. Martin and Lewis would reunite with him on their last film, Hollywood Or Bust, and Lewis would then work with Tashlin on six of his solo films.

Producer Hal B. Wallis chose Tashlin for Artists and Models on the basis of his background as a cartoonist, and the film contains many gags influenced by the director's animation work. When MacLaine kisses Lewis in front of a water cooler, the water steams up; in another scene, a massage therapist bends Lewis's leg all the way towards his head. Artists and Models is considered a milestone in movie satire for its mockery of mid-1950s pop culture. One scene satirizes the Kefauver hearings on violent comic books, and other targets in the film include the Cold War, the space race and the publishing business.

Tashlin brought a lot of sexual innuendo to Artists and Models, making it more adult in content than most previous Martin and Lewis movies and indulging his own fetishistic fascination with female characters in revealing costumes. Some of his most suggestive ideas were disallowed by the Production Code; in Tashlin's original script, Lewis's character was named "Fullstick," but the censors ordered the removal of this phallic joke. The censors also asked Paramount to cut a scene where Dorothy Malone is seen wearing only a strategically placed towel, but the studio did not remove it. The finished film contains many jokes that push the boundaries of what was acceptable in the mid-'50s, including many about women's breasts and a number of double entendres.

Longtime Martin and Lewis writer Herbert Baker worked on the script, which had the original title Rock-A-Bye Baby; the title later being used for a 1958 Jerry Lewis film.

Songs featured were by music legends Harry Warren and Jack Brooks, and included "When You Pretend", "You Look So Familiar", "Innamorata (Sweetheart)", "The Lucky Song", and "Artists and Models." A sixth number, sung by Shirley MacLaine during the party, entitled "The Bat Lady", was cut from the final edit.

MacLaine did not make another film with Lewis, but did go on to appear in six more films with Martin, Some Came Running, Ocean's Eleven, Career, All in a Night's Work, What a Way to Go! and Cannonball Run II.

According to a 1955 column by Sheilah Graham, the part of Abby was originally offered to Lizabeth Scott, who had played opposite the team in Scared Stiff. When she turned the part down, Martin asked for Dorothy Malone, his other love interest from Scared Stiff.

The cast is filled with cameos by many Martin and Lewis regulars. Eddie Mayehoff made his cinematic debut in That's My Boy and co-starred in The Stooge. Kathleen Freeman also appeared in 3 Ring Circus, along with a number of Lewis' solo films. Jack Elam was in the team's second-to-last picture, Pardners. Anita Ekberg would appear in Martin and Lewis' final film, Hollywood Or Bust.

The "Vincent the Vulture" comic books made as a prop for this picture briefly appear in the unaired pilot for the Get Smart television series.

The film was included on a five-film DVD set, the Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Collection: Volume Two, released on June 5, 2007.

Danny G's SPECIAL Dino-Amore Month Sunday Serenade with Dino: "Senza Fine"

Welcome back, mi amici!

Grab a glass of vino & get comfy.

Dino-Amore Month continues!

It's time to daydream with Dean & I is 'bout to lay some smooooth Dino-croonin' on youse.
Haha!!

Well, pals...as we all know...the world works in mysterious ways.

Kinda like Dean.

Yes, pallies...it's true!
Let's me explain.

Now, I already had a cool cool swoonin' tune all set for today's Serenade.
When outta the blue blue skies... I say's to myself..."I could go for some tea."

I've been feelin' a little under the weather this week, pals.

So...as I'm gettin' ready to probably burn my throat on the scaldin' water...I just happened to notice there was a little note on the teabags tag.
This is what it said.

And I quote..."The beauty of the soul is constant, continuous & endless."

Well!

Let me tell youse nice nice Dino-holics...this COMPLETELY sent me in a whole new Dino-direction for this week's Dino-Amore serenade!

"Senza Fine"...is ...without ANY doubt...the ONLY tune that I could pick!

Translated from Italiano..."Never Ending".

"Endless".

Just like my teabag!
Haha!!

Dean sent me his message!

This is his message he wanted me to send to youse!

Youse think so, pallies?

Call me crazy, pals...but I believe in these little signs!

This BEA U TI FUL tune explains how love should be.
How we should feel.
Dino knew that.

 Don't hold back, my friends!

Love is meant to be shared!

Unconditionally!

And as I said here before, pals...it don't matter if it's your Husband, Wife, Mom or Dad...dog, cat, golfball or meatball!
Just share some love!!!
Hahaha!!!

OK, pals...youse take it from here!

Enjoy the moment & spread some Dino-love 'round!

Ciao, mi amici!

Senza fine
Let it always be senza fine
There's no end to our love
Our hopes, our dreams, our sighs
No end at all, no sad goodbyes
No fears, no tears, no love that dies
It's senza fine
Senza fine
Let it always be senza fine
Never-ending
The sunlit days, the moonlit nights
The sea, the sand, the starry heights
Are yours and mine forever more
All we are and all we know
Is love and love alone, so
We'll go floating far above
In never-ending timeless love
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Let it always be senza fine)
Never-ending
The sunlit days, the moonlit nights
The sea, the sand, the starry heights
Are yours and mine forever more
Let it always be senza fine
Never-ending it's senza fine
La-da-dea-da-da-de... Fade
